• New Zealand’s estimated resident population was provisionally 5,269,200
• there were 2,647,700 females and 2,621,500 males
• the median age of females and males was 39.0 and 37.0 respectively.

During the year ended September 2023:

• New Zealand’s population grew by 138,100 (2.7 percent)
• estimated natural increase (births minus deaths) was 19,300
• estimated net migration (migrant arrivals minus migrant departures) was 118,800.
