A summary of data for housing in Auckland including:

  • the number of dwellings consented
  • the types of dwellings
  • code compliance certificates issued

  • etc.

March highlights:

  • 1064 dwellings were consented in January 2023.
  • In the year ending January 2023, 21,163 dwellings were consented in the region.
  • 23 per cent of new dwellings consented in January 2023 were houses, 23 per cent were apartments and 53 per cent were townhouses, flats, units, retirement village units, or other types of attached dwellings.
  • 139 dwellings were consented on Kāinga Ora or Tāmaki Regeneration Company owned land in January 2023.
  • 1064 dwellings consented in January 2023 were inside the RUB. Over the past 12 months, 94 per cent of new dwellings consented were inside the RUB.
  • 28 per cent of dwellings consented were inside the 1500m walking catchments of the rapid transit network in January 2023.
  • 114 dwellings were within hazard zones in January 2023, accounting for 11 per cent of total dwellings consented. Over the past 12 months, 10 per cent of new dwellings were consented within a hazard zone.
  • 845 dwellings were ‘completed’ by having a Code Compliance Certificate (CCC) issued in January 2023.
  • In the year ending January 2023, 14,021 dwellings had a CCC issued.
  • 1300 new residential parcels under 5000m² were created in February 2023.
  • In the past 12 months, 14,291 new residential parcels under 5000m² were created – an average of 1191 each month.
  • In January 2023, 1285 new residential parcels of all sizes were created inside the RUB.
  • Long-term arrivals in December 2022 were 6090.
  • 828 public housing applications have been housed in the December quarter 2022.
