Auckland has faced a number of significant economic challenges in the last four years. These challenges have been reflected in significant job losses, worsening unemployment and underemployment, and an increased rate of disengagement from the labour market, particularly for young Aucklanders and Māori and Pasifika communities. This report collates data relating to the labour market and skills training in Auckland. It has five sections providing analysis on: the overall state of the labour market, the demand for labour, the supply of skills, the mismatch between supply and demand, and future challenges facing Auckland.
