This study represents an important contribution towards understanding the role the export industry plays in Auckland's economy - with respect to both goods and services - and the role that Auckland plays within the broader national economy. It includes the development of a comprehensive database of exports from the Auckland region and nation; an estimation of the economic (value added and employment) contributions made by the region's exporters; and analysis of exporting industry and product patterns and trends, including analysis of emerging export products and destination concentrations.
