A comparison of the changes in levels and types of workplace commuting that have occured between 1996 and 2006 in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. Auckland data is for the four cities of Auckland: North Shore, Waitakere, Auckland, and Manukau. This paper also examines the socio-economic characteristics of commuters, and provides a brief overview of the impact of commuting on air quality in Auckland.
