Capacity for growthLand useThis thesis provides a critical assessment of the likely success of the Auckland Regional Growth Strategy in facilitating controlled growth, and promoting a more compact city form. It explores the reasons for the development of the Strategy, and provides a case study of efforts to implement it, as outlined in the intensification strategy for the suburb of Avondale. The case study includes an analysis of community attitudes to intensification; as well as a review of land capacity in Avondale available to support intensification.
