A summary of statistics for housing in Auckland including:
- the number of dwellings consented
- the types of dwellings
- code compliance certificates issued
- 1143 dwellings were consented in September 2019.
- In the year ending September 2019, 14,634 dwellings were consented in the region.
- 43 per cent of new dwellings consented in September 2019 were houses, 18 per cent were apartments and 39 per cent were townhouses, flats, units, retirement village units, or other types of attached dwellings.
- 85 dwellings were consented on Housing New Zealand or Tāmaki Regeneration Company owned land in September 2019.
- 1091 dwellings consented in September 2019 were inside the RUB. Over the past 12 months, 94 per cent of new dwellings consented were inside the RUB.
- 25 per cent of dwellings consented were inside the 1500m walking catchments of the rapid transport network in September 2019.
- 1172 dwellings were ‘completed’ by having a Code Compliance Certificate (CCC) issued in September 2019.
- In the year ending September 2019, 11,228 dwellings had a CCC issued.
- 805 new residential parcels under 5000m2 were created in October 2019.
- In the past 12 months, 7552 new residential parcels under 5000m2 were created – an average of 629 each month.
- In October 2019, 705 new residential parcels of all sizes were created inside the RUB.
- Long-term arrivals in August 2019 were 4023.
- 26 per cent of residential properties sold in Auckland were purchased by first home owners in September 2019.
- 719 public housing applications have been housed in the June quarter 2019.
Since the July 2019 report, two new sections are added to the housing report:
- Residential property buyer classification. – This dataset is developed by CoreLogic based on historical sales records back to Jan 2011.
- Public housing in the Auckland region. – This dataset measures public housing stock in Auckland and the number of applicants who are eligible for public housing and are on the public housing waiting list. This dataset is managed and distributed quarterly by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development. The next update is expected in October 2019.
