Lake Pupuke is an Auckland Premier Park and the only deep volcanic lake in the region. There has been a recent deterioration in lake health. To address this RIMU has developed a collaborative project with Healthy Waters, the CawthronInstitute, and Project Baseline, an international NGO focused on using citizen science-driven monitoring to achieve better outcomes for aquatic environments.
The project focuses on monitoring a comprehensive set of environmental parameters to gain a better understanding of natural processes in the lake and the long-term effects of urban land use on lake ecosystem health. ...
