Issue: Auckland’s rapidly growing city centre

  • Auckland’s citycentre is rapidly growing.
  • Growth has added environmental, social and structural pressures, including deteriorating air and water quality and increased strain on dated infrastructure.
  • To help the city centre to adapt, to start climate action and to improve mobility, an urban design strategy named Access for Everyone (A4E) has been developed by Auckland Council’s Design Office.
  • To help assess the effectiveness of A4E a suitable monitoring network is being devised.
